Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Jazmine, who is Philadelphia native is a native of Philadelphia, and was raised in the city. Pam her mother is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her an appointment as curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved into the historical landmark. The 2005 graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was a vocal music major. Sullivan was first singing in the kids' chorus as a contralto later she joined the adult choir just a couple of years afterwards. His exposure to secular music was initially limited "I had solos singing in the church, and I was asked to go on a gospel label when I had turned eleven, however I wasn't at the point of doing that," she recalls. Then, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was selected to perform "Accept The Grace God Gives" at it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the people were very enthusiastic. Stevie Wonder sang her part during her grandsons 13th birthday party. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age fifteen. As a teenager the label signed her to Jive Records. The label recorded an entire album there, but the album wasn't made available for release. Sullivan was eventually dismissed by the label. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott and produced many of the tracks from her debut, like the smash single "Backstabbers" - produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
